IranMania- The Esteghlal & Saipa game took place on saturday (15/12/2001) at 14:30. It was the first and the most sensitive game of the 6th week of the Professional League. The game was played with less than 1000 spectators present. The two teams played a quiet and eventless game. The spectators were dissatisfied with the pace of the match. The single goal of the game was scored in the 23rd minute by Farzad Majidi (the younger brother of Farhad Majidi). The goal was made possible through the pass given by Mohammad Navazi. Both teams lost many opportunities for goals during the game and this may be due to the lack of concentration shown by the strikers of the teams. During the very last minutes of the game, Saipa started their offensives rather late and had a few foiled opportunities to score. The final result of the game was a 1-0 victory for Esteghlal who are now in 4th place. Saipa now is placed as the last team in the Professional League table with only one point to their name. On Friday (21/12/2001), Estehglal will be playing away against Al Etehad of Saudi Arabia in the first week of the Asian Cup matches. Esteghlal will leave Iran for Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
