9th draw between Saipa and Persepolis

PLDC - In the third week of the Iranian Professional League, Saipa faced Persepolis of Tehran on Friday, 01/11/2002, which ended in a 1-1 draw, which has become the 9th equal match in the history of the two clubs. This match was not very exciting or active in the first half but in the second half both the teams put on a very good show and performed very well. For most of the first half, Persepolis was average and the ball was sent from one end of the pitch to the other. 

Pezhman Jamshidi of Persepolis lost a chance to score early in the first half of the game. In the 16th minute of the game, Persepolis lost an opportunity to score and injured the Saipa goalkeeper in the process. The first half ended without any goals being scored.

The second half of the match started with two teams determined to win and in the 2nd minute of the second half, Kazemian of Saipa expertly landed a goal in the net of Persepolis to turn the tables around. Sohrab Entezari of Persepolis managed to equalize 30 seconds later with a great header. 

In the 55th minute Saipa missed the Persepolis net and lost their chance to score. Soltani of Saipa received a yellow card for his objection to the decision of the referee on a foul he had committed in the 70th minute. Esteeli of Persepolis kicked a ball over the net on a free kick in the 57th minute.

Persepolis was more in control in the second half but the defense of Saipa did not let them down. In the 66th minute Entezari’s goal was discounted as he was in the offside position. In the final minutes of the match Amir Abedi of Saipa also received a yellow card for a foul on a Persepolis player.

With this draw, Persepolis has gained 7 points and Saipa has 4 points.
