Esteghlal winners of Union Cup tournament

PLDC - Esteghlal became the winners of the Iranian Union Cup, which ended on Thursday, 26th September, when they defeated Foolad Khouzestan. Foolad took second place and the Azerbaijan National team stood third. Ronald Koch, Estehglal head coach, was amazed by the performance of the Foolad of Khouzestan team. 

After observing the match and taking into account the fact that five of the key players of Foolad were with the National Team, Koch reached the conclusion that Esteghlal’s main opponent in the new season was not Persepolis but Foolad of Khouzestan.

Vingo Begovic also praised the performance of his players and commented that winning the Union Cup title was not as valuable as the great play by his team. Esteghlal received one gold (Bahar Azadi) coin for each player. Foolad was awarded the half gold and Azerbaijan got the quarter gold.
