| Berlin, Aug 15, IRNA -- Iranian football international and Hamburger
SV forward Mehdi Mahdavikia on Thursday announced his readiness to return to the pro-team's starting line-up, after having played for the
amateur division last week. "I hope to play soon because I have been in training for quite a long time," Mahdavikia told the bi-weekly kicker sports magazine. "Anyway it was a super feeling to play injury-free following a six-month break," added the ex-Pirouzi star who was earlier declared fit and could play in this Sunday's match at Werder Bremen. The Iranian star played 56 minutes last Sunday for Hamburger SV's third division amateur club in its 1-1 draw against SV Babelsberg. The game was intended as a warm-up for Mahdavikia following his long recovery from a complicated disc surgery. Mahdavikia whose contract runs until 2004, played his last match on February 16 during Hamburg's 2-1 loss at Borussia Moenchengladbach. |
