Esteghlal wins Malavan, moves to 1st

IRIB - Esteghlal Tehran recorded a 1-0 win on the road against Malavan Anzali to move to the top of the Persian Gulf Professional League of Iran.

Esteghlal's goal was scored from the spot by Ali Ansarian in the 62nd minute.

Although Malavan had several scoring chances, the Anzali forwards wasted opportunities that could have tied or even given them the lead.

This win and its 3 points moved Esteghlal to the top of the table with 13 points from 5 matches. Saipa dropped to the 2nd spot with 12 points from 6 matches.

Perspolis, Sepahan, Abu Moslem and Esteghlal Ahvaz share the 3rd spot with 10 points each from 5 matches.

Sepahan is set to host Perspolis, while Abu Moslem travels to Khuzestan to face Esteghlal Ahvaz this Sunday.
