Qatar wants to host 2015 Asian Cup

AFP - The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has announced that it wants to host the 2015 Asian Cup finals, with many of the facilities in place after being built for this year's Asian Games.

The decision to submit a bid for the hosting rights was taken in a recent QFA board meeting, the Asian Football Confederation said.

The 2007 Asian Cup will be co-hosted by Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, while India and Iran are contenders for the next one in 2011.

Qatar previously hosted the tournament in 1988.
