IranMania- Ahmadreza Abedzadeh, the renowned goalkeeper of both Perspolis and the National Team is in the process of joining Saipa of Tehran. Abedzadeh has for sometime been away from the football arena and specifically Perspolis due to his disagreement with Parvin, the team coach. Last Wednesday, 19th of December 2001, he took part in Saipa's training session and intends to sign up with them for the duration of the season. The decision comes after a yearlong saga of Abedzadeh appearing more in the papers than on the pitch. His decision to come back to football has been delayed several times and now he is making a come back for his own reasons. After the Wednesday session, Abedzadeh took a business trip to Dubai. He is in the UAE at this time. Speaking on the subject, Abedzadeh commented, "I have been practicing for some time now and I think I can still play in any game." Manochehr Salehi, the Saipa Chairman also said, "Abedzadeh and I have been friends for a long time. After some discussions together, we concluded that he could help our team. At present Saipa's league standing is not high. With Abedzadeh's previous record in football, we hope that there'll be positive changes and improvements in Saipa. We will use him as a player and we'll also use his experience for team development." Mayelikohan the Saipa coach has so far shown no reaction to the news, but our sources inform us that he is also happy with this development. |
