AZAD University team Gets University Cup

PLDC - IRI Open (AZAD) University sports teams sent to 9th round of 2007International University Student championships received 2 gold medals, one silver, 2 fourth and fifth status.

According to reports by ISNA, the competitions took place last week with presence of 60 universities from 25 countries at the Vienna, Austria, and Iran performed rather well.

In football, the AZAD University team, in a very close and breathtaking game, succeeded in defeating the University of Vienna, Austria 4-3 on penalty strikes to face University of Croatia in the final round.

The first half of the final was a two goal draw, but in the second half Ali Daie won the game for the AZAD University with a hat trick: 60 minutes on penalty, 75 and 83, winning the championship cup. German and Austrian Universities were placed second and third.
